Who’s in my Family?

Peter (Husband), Ray (Dad), Ros (Mum) and sister (Meagan).  Meagan (or Megsy as we call her) and I are actually born on the same day, but we’re not twins- pretty cool hey?

Where Did I Grow Up?

I grew up in Brisbane, Australia (In the past few years though, I have lived in Charters Towers and Cairns).

Where Did I Go to School?

Actually, I feel like I haven’t left, being a teacher.  I started at Yeronga Primary (in Brisbane) then went off to Yeronga High School.  After that, I studied at QUT for four years to become an Early Childhood teacher. 

My Favourite Things:

Chocolate (particularly dark, but if you’re offering, I’ll eat any), my special dog Hudson, listening to my ITunes, funny movies, chilling out watching Foxtel at Mum’s place, shopping (NOT for groceries), spending time with my family and friends, and Caloundra (I just love Bullcock Beach).  I would also love to travel (hopefully Benny, Michèle and I will do a tour and come visit you!). 

So When Did I Get Into Writing?

I really haven’t been writing very long.  I wrote my first “Benny” storyline while living in Charters Towers in 2005 and finally published it at the end of 2007.  I’m now waiting to get my next “Benny Book” underway.

Why Benny?

Benny the Blue Heeler came to mind when I was living in Charters Towers.  I guess being in a ‘bush’ environment I had four wheelers and blue heelers on the brain!  There was a lot of stimulus out there for my ideas.

The Benny character was actually based on a family member, who I’ve always thought was a little cheeky and mischievous (thanks for the inspiration, Ben!).  Many of the animals’ personalities developed from memories of children I’ve taught in the past or people I’ve known.
