Parent Stuff

Hi there parents!  Thanks for stopping by to look at my website!

I hope you and your children have enjoyed reading my books. Reading is especially important for young children and if you can find the time to read to your child, we are sure it will prove worthwhile as it will create some "special" time, and also encourage your child to read.

You may find little things like varying the pitch and tone of your voice as you read, will provide more interest to the child. Trying a funny voice, stopping at dramatic moments, or asking "What happens next?" may also help.

Here are some ideas I thought you might like to use next time you read a “Benny Book”:

·         Make masks of each of the characters

·         Create finger puppets and act out the story

·         Invent a new “Benny” storyline

·         Have your children predict what will happen next after each page

·         Write a letter/email to one of the characters (send it in to us)

·         Animal types (including name of Father, Mother and Baby for each animal)

·         Identify the different types of farming equipment

·         Discuss the moral of the story

·         Experiment with water colours and coloured pencils (just as the illustrator has)

·         Use playdough/ plasticine to create a farming scene

·         Make a four-wheeler using materials from around the house
